Enhance Your Immunity with Hydrotherapy!

Hydrotherapy is a wonderful way to enhance the body’s vitality. It can create the following positive changes in the body:

  • Improves blood flow and oxygenation
  • Improves nutrient availability to our cells
  • Removes waste products from our tissues
  • Modulates the immune system function
  • Enhance organ system function
  • Improve parasympathetic function
  • Optimize digestion & elimination

Heat creates the following changes:

  • Causes vasodilation: brings more blood, oxygen, nutrients to the area
  • Improves immune function by increasing immune cells’ activities
  • Enhances detox functions

Cold creates the following changes:

  • Causes vasoconstriction: decreases inflammation, temperature, pain, and metabolism
  • Strengthens the body

Home hydrotherapy can be completed in a variety of ways, two of which are listed below:

  1. Alternating hot and cold towels to a certain area (throat, sinuses, chest)
    1. Begin with 5 minutes of warm application by ringing out a towel in hot water
      1. Be careful to test the towel before applying
    2. Towards the end of the 5 minutes, prepare a cold towel and replace with the hot towel for a total of 1 minute.
    3. Repeat this cycle of hot and cold for 3 cycles and repeat it as needed throughout the day
      1. ***EXCEPT in asthma cases or excessively low body temperatures, don’t end in cold – complete another warm application
  2. Magic Socks
    1. Can increase circulation, decrease congestion, induce relaxation for better sleep, and decrease pain
    2. Supplies needed: 1 pair of wool/thick sock, 1 pair of thin socks, water
      1. Before bed, wet thin socks in cold water and throw in freezer for about 10 minutes or until cold.
      2. Take a warm shower or warm feet up.
      3. Put on the thin socks, then put on the wool or very thick socks over the thin socks.
      4. Go to bed! The socks should dry up in a couple of hours and will cause your body to heat up throughout the night.

Be well,
